OUR APPROACH

West Northamptonshire Council announced plans to commence construction on Northampton’s main shopping street in early 2024, with preparatory work beginning in November. This followed extensive investigative work conducted in collaboration with our partner, Kier Transportation.

AT A GLANCE

Project Purpose:

Bants Lane was upgraded to modernize traffic signals at the junction of Bants Lane and Chiltern Avenue, improving safety and traffic flow.

  • Scope of Work: The project involved reusing existing ducts, installing new traffic equipment, repositioning signals, and desilting access chambers.

  • Timeline: The upgrade was scheduled to be completed in four weeks.

Delivery:

  • Start Date: July 22nd, after a two-week mobilization period.

  • Safety Measures: The junction was closed with a diversion route, and two-way lights were set up per safety regulations.

    Innovative Techniques:

    • Vacuum Excavation: Enhanced safety and reduced risks of utility strikes.

    • NAL MULTIduct™ System: Lightweight ducting system for faster and durable installation.
